About Indian Women's League

The Indian Women’s League (IWL) is the top-tier league in women’s football in India. Previously, the IWL was played in a centralised venue in a league-cum-knockout format. However, from the 2023-24 season, the league is conducted in a two-legged round robin format on a home-and-away basis.

Gokulam Kerala FC (2019-20, 2021-22, 2022-23) are by far the most successful club in the IWL, having won the league on three occasions. Eastern Sporting Union (2016-17), Rising Student Club (2017-18), Sethu FC (2018-19), and Odisha FC (2023-24) have won one title each. Odisha FC were the first club to win the IWL in the home-and-away format.

The current (2024-25) season of the IWL has eight teams competing in it, with Sribhumi FC (Kolkata), and Nita Football Academy (Cuttack) being the newly-promoted teams as the top two sides, respectively, from the 2023-24 IWL 2.
