The Sub Junior Boys' National Football Championship was started in 1977 and was held for boys under the age of 16 until it was converted into an U-13 tournament from the 2023-24 edition. All affiliated State Associations of the AIFF are eligible to participate in this championship through the two tiers of the competition which is played across the country.
The Tier 1 of the Sub Junior Boys' NFC 2023-24 was held in Malda and Berhampore in West Bengal, and contested by 15 teams, divided into four groups of four and one group of three, with the winners progressing to the semi-finals. Mizoram beat Manipur 3-0 in the final to win the trophy.
The Tier 2 of the Sub Junior Boys' NFC 2023-24 was held in Ananthapuram, Andhra Pradesh, and contested by 20 teams, divided into four groups of five teams each, with the winners progressing to the semi-finals. Bihar beat Delhi 1-0 in the final to win the trophy.
