The Senior NFC for Santosh Trophy is the premier Men’s National Football Championship of India. It was started in 1941 and was named after Sir Manmatha Nath Roy Chowdhary of Santosh, the then president of the Indian Football Association. West Bengal are the record 32-time champions of the Santosh Trophy
All affiliated Member Associations of the AIFF are eligible to participate in this championship through the qualifying round which is played across the country. A total of 38 teams took part in the 77th National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy 2023-24, the group stage of which was conducted in Goa, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Assam and Maharashtra.
Following the conclusion of the group stage, 12 teams progress to the Final Round where they are divided into two groups of six each. The top four teams from each group progress to the quarter-finals, followed by the semi-finals and the final.
Services are the most recent champions of the Senior NFC for Santosh Trophy, beating Goa 1-0 in the 2024 final in Yupia, Arunachal Pradesh.
