PUNE: The AIFF Elite Academy tightened its grip on the U-19 I-League after an easy 3-0 win over Mohun Bagan on Thursday (April 30, 2015) in Pune.
Mohun Bagan, which were yet to taste defeat in the competition, had a scoring chance in the 5th minute, when Nitin Jyail lashed a shot, which took a deflection off the defence and went wide off the post.
The deadlock was finally broke in 30th Minute by the Academy boys, when a perfectly delivered free kick from Robinson was cushioned past the opponent keeper with a headed effort from ace winger Rakesh Oram.
Minutes later, skipper Robinson Singh rattled the woodwork with his stinger long range attempt.
At the half way point the score line read 1-0.
The Academy colts doubled their lead when Daniel Lalhlimpuia scored off a rebound, following an attempt by Sumar Sarkar, which was saved acrobatically by the opposing Goalkeeper.
The Academy boys sealed all three points in the 77th minute when Milan Basumatary’s effort was thwarted away by the opposing Goalkeeper, only for Sarkar to place the ball into the back of the net.
At the end of time, an excellent balanced performance by the AIFF Elite Academy boys saw them hammer Mohun Bagan 3-0.
With two rounds of league games in hand, the AIFF colts alpine the table with 13 points.
The AIFF Elite academy will play their next game on May 4, 2015 against Chanmari FC.
