AIZAWL:  Shillong outfit Wahingdoh edged past Kalighat Milan Sangha 2-0 in a Second Division League Final Round game of the day at the Lammual Stadium in Aizawl on Wednesday, April 9.

Wahingdoh’s topscorer Bekay Bawar opened the scoring in the 18^th minute of the game with rather ease, as he placed the ball into the back of the net, after taking a shot from as close as the right corner flag.

Besides the Liberian hotshot, schemer Jackichand Singh was the other lethal man of the match, as he took chances after chances throughout the game, and his luck finally favoured in the 81^st minute.

The goal was a splendid volley taken with his left foot, and the ball rocketed into the net. Just another world class goal that made Kalight custodian Shantanu Ghoshal look nothing but helpless.

Kalighat tried their best from the start of the match but to no avail. Simply put, luck was just not on their side. The trio of Arijit Bagui, Zodinliana, and James Gbilee created wonderful chances through some beautiful build-ups in bits and pieces in the game.

However, none of the shots taken by Kalighat topscorer Gbilee were on target.

Nigerian forward Eze Kingsley had the first great chance for Kalighat in the 30^th minute as he volleyed a shot that just went wide.

In the second half, the duo of Arijit and Zodinliana terrorised the Wahingdoh defenders as there were chances after chances, but unfortunately none of them went into the goal.

Wahingdoh got through to the goal scoring chances initially after 15 minutes of play. Bekay tried his luck again moments after scoring his goal, as he dribbled past several Kalighat defenders, and only to be stopped by Shantanu.

There were also lovely skills from Jackicahand, the topscorer from India in the competition, as his blistering pace helped him get past defenders and he scooped the ball dangerously up in the 23^rdminute of the match, but it was just meters wide of the goal post.

A similar effort from him was followed in the 38^th minute.

This was a rather comfortable game for the players as compared to the previous game between Bhawanipore and Hindustan FC as the weather cleared and there was no rain during the match.

The win takes Wahingdoh to 15 points, just two short of Bhawanipore, who have 17 points.
