NEW DELHI: As part of the process to extend the horizons of Football in the State of West Bengal whilst generating interest in posterity, the Indian Football Association launched three permanent Grassroots Centres in Tehatta, Krishna Nagar and Chakdaha in the district of Nadia.
The IFA had earlier in the month launched the first permanent Grassroots Centre in the Hooghly district at Chinsurah and the three Grassroots Centre act as a value addition to the development of the State Association.
The Project is part of the AIFF Pilot Project, which aims for the development of State Associations through cultivating the young generations and teaching them the technicalities of the game.
“This initiative is bound to reap profits as Grassroots Football needs to be harnessed if Indian Football has to grow,” said IFA’s Gautam Ghosh. “The first centre in Chinsurah received more appreciation than expected, and hence it was logical to launch these six centres which will further enhance the state of Football in West Bengal.”
“The youngsters are all passionate about the game in West Bengal and through these Grassroots Centre we enable them to receive modern scientific Football training which will help them grow into better Players,” Ghosh added.
“Over the three Grassroots Centres launches there are already more than 450 kids and our aim is to create a place wherein the kids enjoy and love their Football.”
