ANANTAPUR, ANDHRA PRADESH: Tamil Nadu registered a 3-1 victory over Kerala to advance to the semi-finals of the Junior Girls' National Football Championship 2024- 2025 Tier 1, at the RDT Stadium in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, on Thursday, August 8, 2024. The teams were locked 1-1 at half time.

With this win, Tamil Nadu finished on top of Group C with seven points from three matches. Kerala, who won their first two group league matches against Arunachal Pradesh and Gujarat, finished second behind Tamil Nadu with six points.

The match saw Tamil Nadu take the lead in the 13th minute through K. Asika. Kerala's Aysha Mirhana IP equalised just before halftime, scoring in the 45+3 minute. However, Asika struck again in the 59th minute to restore Tamil Nadu's lead, and Kaviya further consolidated the lead with a goal in the 75th minute.

Tamil Nadu will now face Jharkhand, the winners of Group A, in the first semi-final on August 10, 2024.

In the other Group C match, Arunachal Pradesh defeated Gujarat 2-0 to end their group stage campaign with four points. Skipper Gunailu Tawsik scored in the 68th minute, while Kabak Yolluk netted another in the 77th minute. Gujarat lost all their three matches.

Bengal maintain winning run In Jr Boys’ NFC for Dr BC Roy Trophy Tier 1

NARAINPUR, CHHATTISGARH: Former champions Bengal ended their Group D campaign in the Junior Boys’ National Football Championship for Dr. BC Roy Trophy Tier 1 in style when they edged hosts Chhattisgarh 1-0 at the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama ground.

Bengal, who already booked their berth in the semi-finals, finished the group stage with nine points from three matches.

After a barren first half, skipper Satyajit Das scored the all-important goal four minutes into the second session. Bengal will now meet Delhi in the semi-finals on Saturday. The winners will meet Odisha in the final.

In the other match of the day, in the same group, Kerala had the consolation of finishing second behind Bengal when they defeated Tamil Nadu 4-2.

After trailing by a first half goal, Kerala pumped in four goals in the second through Aman Mohammed P (48'), Shaheeb Ali Karayil (59'), Hashmil V (65',) and Alphonse Chiriyankandath (67', penalty). Sreekapil S (15') and Abdul Shahan A (51') scored for Tamil Nadu. Kerala finished with six points.
