NARAINPUR, CHHATTISGARH:
 Sports Authority of India beat Assam 4-0 on the opening day of Group G in the Swami Vivekananda U20 Men's National Football Championship at the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama Ground in Narainpur, Chhattisgarh, on Friday, April 18, 2025.

In the other match, Odisha and Goa played out a goalless draw. As a result, Sports Authority of India are now at the top in Group G with three points, followed by Odisha and Goa with one each, and Assam with none. Only the group winner will book their place in the quarter-final.

Rajkumar Lanchenba Singh opened the scoring for SAI with a sliding finish from point-blank range in the 36th minute. Oinam Romio Singh doubled the advantage in the 68th minute after a melee in the box following Bless Vashum's corner. Vashum turned scorer in the 81st minute, finishing off a cross from Vikram A to make it three. Captain Robert Thokchom wrapped up the scoring in the 85th minute with a good left-footed finish into the bottom corner.

There was no winner in the evening kick-off at the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama Ground. Odisha, reduced to 10 after Nirmal Oram's second yellow card, held Goa to a 0-0 draw. Both sides finished second in their respective groups in the 2024 edition and are looking for their maiden knockout phase appearance.
