AGARTALA: Sikkim moved to the top of Group G in the 29th Senior Women’s National Football Championship for the Rajmata Jijabai Trophy after defeating hosts Tripura 6-0 at the Umakanta Mini Stadium, in Agartala, Tripura, on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. The score was 2-0 in favour of the visitors at half-time.
Simran Gurung (2’, 49’, 62’, 69’) netted four goals, while Laxmi Tamang (42’) and Priya Chettri (90+1’) scored one each.
Gujarat, in the second match of the day, dished out a 15-0 drubbing to Chandigarh. The score, at half-time, was 8-0 in favour of Gujarat.
Naazbanu Shaikh (33’, 45+2’, 88’) and Rupa Rathva (55’, 78’, 81’) got hat-tricks to their names, while Khushbu Saroj (2’, 22’), Misbabanu Sindhi (3’, 6’), and Jeel Kumari Damor (51’, 90’) netted two each. Nisha Thakor (19’), Maya Rabari (44’), and Bhumisha Dravid (86’) scored one each.
Sikkim sit pretty at the top of Group G, having garnered six points from their two games, followed by Gujarat and Tripura, respectively, with three points from as many matches. Chandigarh remain bottom with zero points.
