BELGAUM, KARNATAKA: Rajasthan triumphed 1-0 over Maharashtra to make it three wins from three in Group B and qualify for the Junior Girls' National Football Championship Tier 2 semi-finals at the Sporting Planet Lovedale School Ground in Belgaum, Karnataka, on Friday, August 2, 2024.

Captain Sanju Kanwar scored the solitary goal for Rajasthan in the 46th minute. Rajasthan will face the winner of Group D (Sikkim, Madhya Pradesh or Meghalaya) in the semi-final on August 7.

Uttar Pradesh thrashed Chandigarh 10-0 to climb to second place in Group A. Skipper Anchal Patel scored four goals (7', 27', 28', 54'), while Kumari Komal netted a first-half hat-trick (16', 25', 35'). Khushi Rai (70') and Shbana (43') scored once each, while Chandigarh's Aarti scored an own goal (33'). The big win means Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka's summit clash on August 4 will determine the group topper and the semi-finalists from Group B.

In a dead rubber, Jammu & Kashmir went on a goalscoring spree against Andaman & Nicobar beating them 8-0 in the first game of the day. The goal rush was kicked off by Kabari Sharma in the 17th minute. A brace each by Prachi Sharma (33', 49'), Manisha (44', 90+2') and Atira (78', 87') were enough to wrap up the points. 

Jammu and Kashmir maintain pole position in Group B

NAGAON, ASSAM: In the Junior Boys' National Football Championship for BC Roy Trophy Tier 2, Jammu and Kashmir maintained top spot in Group B after a 1-1 draw with Madhya Pradesh, while Uttarakhand opened their account by beating Gujarat 2-0, at the Nurul Amin Stadium in Nagaon.

Captain Aazim Parveez Najar's late strike in the 83rd minute earned a crucial point for Jammu and Kashmir to keep their unbeaten run alive and take their tally to seven points. Divyansh Srivastava had put Madhya Pradesh ahead in the 69th minute. It was Madhya Pradesh's second draw in the group after being held 2-2 by Tripura in their opening match. For Jammu and Kashmir, a win over Tripura on August 6 will ensure a spot in the semi-final.

In the earlier kick-off, Uttarakhand beat Gujarat 2-0 to bag their first win in Group B. Two quick goals right before half time from Rohit Singh (40') and captain Mayank Singh (43') sealed the three points for the North Indians, who are now in second place with three points from two games.

Telangana beat Rajasthan 3-1 to get Group D underway in Nagaon. Aditya A struck a first-half brace (25', 45+1') before Thongam Yaiphaba Singh added a third (51'). For Rajasthan, Suresh Meghwal (71') scored a consolation goal.

In Group D's second fixture, Bihar scored in double digits, beating Pondicherry 14-0 to make a flying start to their campaign. Daniel Chaure scored a dozen of the goals (29', 36', 47', 53', 58', 90+1'), while Oman Kumar (27', 81', 88') and Mohammad Afroj Alam (11', 63', 66') bagged a hat-trick each. Sagar Kumar Sharma (23') and Md Jahid Husain (45+1') scored a goal apiece.
