NEW DELHI: That stopper back Jayananda Singh ventured out of his zone and into rival territory brushing aside the not-so-encouraging reversal of 2-6 underlines the fact whatever be the circumstance, AIFF U-16 boys just won’t give up. Jayananda was tripped inside the box and from the resultant spot kick, Prosenjit recorded his penalty-hattrick.

Albeit a disappointing result, Head Coach Goutam Ghosh stressed on this intrinsic quality of his wards at the Post Match Press Conference here.

This is the brighter side, that we never gave up, 6-3 could not pull us down,” Ghosh told reporters.

“It is a disappointing result, everyone knows that. But we have to keep these boys going, and I love this never-say-die attitude of my boys.”

He continued: “There were mistakes, and we have a lot on our plate. The defense and goalkeeper lacked coordination. We could not complete a comeback every time we came close to it. We need to work on a lot of thing, I repeat. They are a great side, and we have a lot to learn from them.”

Ghosh felt the red-card flashed to Amit Tudu "changed a lot of things."

“It changed a lot of things. We were playing well, and had the momentum.”

Meanwhile visiting coach S. Balachandranwas said: “We lost to Japan by a goal, and beat Korea 2-0. This is the National Team and we expect such performance from them. But having said that this side (AIFF XI) have a bright future. The Boys have a big heart and play all out.

“Yes this was an easy outing for us and the scoreline reflects that, but our opposition was no pushover.”
