VADODARA: Millat FC, Speed Force FC and JCT FA were the big winners of the day in the AIFF Futsal Club Championship 2023-24 being played at the Swarnim Gujarat Sports University in the Vadodara district of Gujarat on Saturday, June 29, 2024.

Millat FC deliver Classic's first defeat

Millat FC beat Classic Football Academy 4-2 in Group A in the opening game of the day. Despite having started brighter, Classic were let down by some lacklustre defending and an unfortunate own goal by Yumnam Banty Singh in the 7th minute. Millat FC doubled down on their lead two minutes later, Sunny Koli bringing down Merick Fernandes' cross expertly with his chest before volleying home. Rishon Sam scored a third for them with five minutes of the half to play, and at that stage, it seemed to be heading towards a rout. Banty made amends for his own goal by scoring Classic's first in the 16th minute.

Despite a long period of pressure in the second period, Classic could not breach the Millat goal. With four minutes to play Paonam Govin Singh scored a second and it seemed like an unlikely comeback was on. It wasn't to be though as Koli's second goal, scored with two minutes of the game left, secured the result and gave Millat a deserved win, which lifted the Maharashtra side to second place in the group with six points from three games.

Speed Force win 10-goal thriller

Speed Force came back from an early two-goal deficit to run out 6-4 winners over Baroda Football Academy. Two goals within the first ten minutes by Saurabh Nikam (3') and Prathmesh Kasare (9') stunned Speed Force but they hit back with their own quick-fire round soon enough. A 10th-minute strike by Ibrahim Ali kickstarted their comeback and within a minute they were level thanks to Kiran Gaddam's strike. Sachin Banger struck at the death to give Speed Force a slender lead at the break.

The Telangana side scored early in the second half to take a two-goal advantage. Nikam's second goal of the game in the 28th minute dropped the deficit to one. The drama rolled on. Bangera scored a second to extend Sped Force's lead to two again, and again, it was cut short by Shamsad Ali in the 36th minute of the game. Within the space of a minute though Mohammed Ahtesham Ali struck what proved to be the death knell for Baroda's chances. Speed Force are now in third place in Group C with six points from three matches, while Baroda remain in fourth with three points.

JCT breeze past Casa Barwani

JCT put on a dominant display to beat Casa Barwani Soccer Club 7-0 for their first win in Group D. Despite the one-sided scoreline, the opening quarter of the game was fairly even, with JCT unable to break through despite dominating possession. The floodgates opened in the 15th minute when Yuvraj got the first of what would be a four-goal performance. Within two minutes, he added a second and JCT went into the break leading comfortably.

A ruthless display in the second half saw them put five past their opponents, Yuvraj adding two more to his tally (31', 38') with Sanamdeep (32'), Sangamdeep Singh (38') and Karanpreet Singh (40') joining in to complete the rout.

Electric Veng return to winning ways

Electric Veng Futsal Club bounced back from their defeat to Minerva Academy in style as they thrashed Satvir FC 7-1 to move to second place in Group B. The Mizoram side wasted no time as Lalhlimpui bagged a hat-trick inside the first 14 minutes, with Lalrosanga adding another in the first half. Lalrinsanga Khawlhring, C Lalchhanchhuaha and Isak Lalhruaizela scored three more in the second half to complete the rout. Vaibhav Sharma's 39th-minute strike was only a consolation for Satvir FC.
