NEW DELHI: Manipur steamrolled Chhatisgarh 12-0, while Bihar thrashed Himachal Pradesh 20-0 in the opening fixtures of Group E and F respectively in the ongoing Junior National Football Championship for Girls in Cuttack, Odisha.
In a stellar display of attacking skills, both Manipur and Bihar took their goal tally to double figures against their hapless opponents. Neha Kumari proved to be the star in Bihar’s attack as her six goals led Bihar to humongous win. Despite leading 11-0 at halftime Bihar scored 9 goals in the second half to run out eventual winners.
Meanwhile, Ratanbala Devi scored six goals too for Manipur. Although Manipur led 3-0 at halftime, Ratanbala Devi inspired Manipur as he scored a second half hattrick to make the full-time scoreline read 12-0.
In the late kick-offs for the day, Asha Kumari’s double hattrick led Jharkhand to a 11-0 win over Madhya Pradesh, while Renu’s four goals led Haryana to a 10-0 win over Gujarat.
