Manipur and Odisha progress into the Finals of the Junior National Football Championship

NEW DELHI: Manipur and Odisha breezed into the Finals of the Junior National Football Championship for Girls, which is being held in Goa, as Manipur defeated Delhi 4-2 and Odisha steamrolled Bihar 4-1 in the Semi-finals clashes of the Competition on October 19, 2015.

A quick-fire hatrick by Ranjibala Devi in less than 10 minutes sealed the result for Manipur, after Kashmina scored in the opening minutes of the match to hand Manipur a 4-0 advantage over Delhi at half-time.

Delhi reduced their deficit in the dying embers of the match as Anushka Samuel slotted home two goals in the 84th and 93rd minute, however to no avail as the full-time scoreline read 4-2 in favor of Manipur.

Meanwhile, Odisha rode on a Jasmani Samad brace to steamroll Bihar 4-1. Swarnapriya opened the goal scoring tally for Odisha in the 7th minute and soon after Jasmani doubled Odisha’s lead.

Bihar pulled one back through Shama Rani in the 37th minute as the half-time scoreline read 2-1.

Thereafter, Bihar pulled the plugs on the game and scored in quick succession through Jasmani Samad and Suman Mohapatra to seal the win.

Manipur will now clash swords with Odisha in the Finals of the Junior National Football Championship of October 21, 2015.
