NEEMUCH, MADHYA PRADESH: Hosts Madhya Pradesh, Pondicherry and Andhra Pradesh laid down early markers with huge wins in their group stage encounters of the Sub-Junior Girls’ National Football Championship Tier 2 on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at the Patva Educational Academy.

In Group A's opener Pondicherry ran out 5-2 winners over Andaman and Nicobar. A brace by Indhu (2', 52') and goals from Prathisha (34') and Soundarya (90') along with an own goal by Hanna Shaikh were enough for them to take the points. Andaman & Nicobar's goals were scored by Sara Ekta Lakra (52') and Asiyah Ansari (82').

Hosts Madhya Pradesh kicked off their campaign in style with a 6-0 thrashing of Uttarakhand in Group C. Five different players got on the scoresheet for Madhya Pradesh, powered by captain Somni Dhurwey's brace (58', 66').  Bindeshwari Tekam opened the scoring in the 13th minute, before a 10 minute blitz saw Ambika Dhurwey (21'), Shanti Dhurwey (26') and Neelam Pusam (30') put Madhya Pradesh out of reach before half time. Somni's brace added the gloss to an emphatic performance.

Andhra Pradesh recorded a massive 7-0 win over Tripura in Group A's second game. Gundigi Jyoshnavi's four goals (3', 13', 41', 45'+2') and captain Chinnapareddy Ganga Rohitha Reddy's quick fire brace (60', 69') gave them the points after a dominant performance.

Uttar Pradesh and Sikkim played out a 1-1 draw in the second Group C game. After a goalless first half, UP struck first in the 49th minute via Sharddha. Sikkim hit back right after the hour's mark to draw level, and the game petered out to a draw.
