AIZAWL: Delhi outfit Hindustan FC are more or less satisfied with their performance in the competition, even though they are bowing out of it after clashing with leaders Bhawanipore FC on Wednesday (April 9, 2014).
“Our aim was to go as far in the competition as we could,” Hindustan Technical Director Surinder Kumar said.
“The Club qualifying to the Final Round of the Second Division League was definitely a big factor for the team to gain the important experiences, for even better performances in the coming years.”
The only outfit from North India are currently at the rock-bottom of the table with four points garnered from seven games. They are trailing Bhawanipore FC by ten points at the moment, but are looking forward to bowing out of the tournament by earning their second victory of the Final Round on the morrow.
“We are trying and we will do our best to win the match. Bhawanipore are a very balanced side and with their consistent performances, they have no reason to not go and win this tournament,” Surinder continued.
“Hindustan FC could not perform as was expected of us only because of the non-availabilty of some of the regular players as they stayed back owing to election duties, being the govt servants, and some have injuries as well.”
Bhawanipore on the other hand are one of the two teams along with Royal Wahingdoh, who are still in for a chance to bag promotion to the top tier of Indian Club Football next season.
If they do manage to bag a win, or even register a draw, they have the chance of bagging the Second Division League 2013/14 title. But for that, Kalighat need to record a victory over Wahingdoh.
“It is a big day tomorrow and we need a win. We worked pretty hard so far. Tomorrow I’ll decide who to play and what formation to employ,” Bhawanipore’s Brazilian Coach Juliano Fontana said.
“Promotion is what we are working towards, and we have worked really hard. We want to reach the I-League next season.”
