NEW DELHI: Hot on the heels of the AFC Grassroots Course organised by the the Himachal Pradesh Football Association, the AFC Grassroots Festival in line with the AFC Grassroots Day on May 15 was also celebrated across the state on AFC May 15, 2014.
A total of 48 kids participated in the Festival while 100 children and 20 Grassroot Leaders took part in the Course. Children aged 6-12 were divided into teams and guided through a series of activity grids, with ‘5 v 5’ matches and also technical ability using fun-based drills.
Nearly 3000 children participated in the Festivals held across the country at various venues last year on the same day. Grassroots Leaders from across the country conducted Grassroots Festivals on AFC Grassroots Day last year.
The Himachal Pradesh Football Association had also organised its first ever Grassroots Course in the month of February this year.
A total of 35 Coaches attended the Course from different parts of the country.
The Course which had practical and theory sessions saw participation of 112 kids in the Football Festival on the last day.
The importance of Grassroots Football and small sided games and age-specific activities was once again the toast of the sessions. The GR Football Festival comprised of technical stations and small sided games in rotation.
