NEW DELHI: The All India Football Federation organized Hero I-League Grassroots Workshop, which aims to widen the horizon of Grassroots Football in India, kicked-off at the AIFF HQ in Dwarka, New Delhi today (September 14, 2015).
31 Grassroots Instructors and Coaches from Hero I-League and 2ND Division Clubs attended the Workshop which is slated to conclude on September 16, 2015.
The Course will consist of practical and theory sessions, which are engineered to tutor the participants to develop grassroots Football in their respective zones, in tune with the FIFA Grassroots and AFC Grassroots philosophy.
Speaking on the occasion, AIFF’s Technical Director Scott O’ Donell, who is also the Instructor of the informative three day Course emphasized on the importance of Grassroots Football in India, “Grassroots stays the strength of Indian Football. It is imperative to develop Grassroots as it widens the base of Player development pyramid”
“This further boosts the youth development process which will hopefully produce better players at Club level, which in turn acts as a feeder for the senior National Team”
“The major Player development process happens from the age of 6-16 and we need to capitalize there”, O’Donell informed.
The Course also aims to tutor the participants in the importance of small sided games, whilst preparing and teaching them on how to conduct a Grassroots Festival.
“Kids need to see Football as a way to have fun. And the passion needs to develop from there”, quipped O’Donell.
Furthermore, the participants will also get to test their organizing and Festival conducting skills through live interaction with kids of various age groups.
“The Hero I-League Grassroots Workshop intends to harness the Grassroots of Football in India through tutoring the Coaches and Instructors of different Clubs”, expressed Hero I-League CEO Sunando Dhar to www.the-aiff.com later.
“Courses such as these help you to construct and build your own pool of young Players, which can be further streamlined with the senior Teams”
