MANJERI: Bhawanipore FC's Nigerian striker Daniel Bidemi scored early in the first half to hand his side their first victory of the Federation Cup as they beat fellow strugglers United Sikkim FC in an inconsequential Group D tie here at the MDSC Stadium on Monday (January 20, 2014).
Both the teams were out of the tournament before the match and had pride at stake for this encounter. Courtesy this win Bhawanipore FC finally now have three points from three matches while United Sikkim end on a sour note without being able to register a single point.

Anubrata teed up Bidemi down the middle of the pitch with the latter having to beat only the onrushing Sikkim custodian. The Nigerian did it in >
United Sikkim could have levelled ten minutes later when Adelaja tried to direct his shot from close with the goalkeeper diving in the wrong direction. But it was centre back Noushad’s alacritous goalline clearance that helped Bhawanipore FC hold on to the slender lead.
Changing over, Bhawanipore came very close to doubling their tally when Manjit Singh latched onto the second ball in midfield and ran into the rival defense only to see his attempt sail over the framework. Like any other business organization, they use

Bhawanipore played better in the second period looking to increase their lead. J Prasad's shot from the left fizzed across the face of goal, and Dipendu Dowary shot at the goalkeeper after turning two defenders inside the area.
