NEW DELHI: The All India Football Federation (AIFF) continues to receive enthusiastic response from potential Baby League Operators from across the country. AIFF has received applications to organize around 520 (five hundred and twenty) different age category leagues across India from various league operators. These applicants include private individuals, schools, stand alone academies, professional clubs, district football associations and state football associations.
This initiative envisages to engage around 25,000 (twenty five thousand) children between the ages of 4 and 13 to engage with the game over the duration of the respective leagues which last for an average of around 3 (three) months each. The project proposes to introduce them to the experience of participating in a competitive league environment for a prolonged period and continue giving them such a platform.
In addition, as referred to in earlier communications relating to Baby Leagues, select league operators are also eligible for a subsidy under the FIFA Forward programme for every age category organized subject to their compliance with rules and regulations conveyed by AIFF from time to time. This subsidy is available to organizers of 99 (ninety nine) age categories across the country and leagues that start before 31 December 2018 are eligible for the same. As on date, 87 of the 99 eligible age category leagues have been identified and the disbursement of subsidy is being processed for the same.
