The Annual Training of all Category 2 National Referees concluded in Imphal on Wednesday (May 4). Keeping in mind the logistical difficulties, sixty-six Category 2 National Referees were divided in two groups for the Training process.

While the first group underwent training in Gandhinagar for four days from May 26-29 last month, the second group underwent four days training in the North-Eastern State of Manipur from June 1-4, 2013.

Walter Pereira and P Basker stayed the Technical Instructors for both the batches.

Ms. Uvena Fernandes, an Air Force Officer attending the Training said: “Such Courses give us the space to share our problems in Refereeing and update ourselves to the latest training methods. We are better equipped now after this course.”

Goutam Kar, Head of Referees, AIFF thanked the two Associations for their support. “Logistically, Gandhinagar and Imphal are located at two opposite ends. I need to thank both the local Associations for their support and ensuring everything went off smoothly,” he said. “Such Courses always play a major role in the enlightment of Indian Referees. I request all to go back and share the knowledge with others,” he added.
