NEW DELHI: The AIFF U-17 Colts were held to a 1-1 stalemate by Salgaocar FC U-18 in the ongoing U-18 I-League on November 19, 2015 at the Cuncolim ground in Goa.
Coming on the back of a 3-2 win over Sporting Goa, the AIFF Colts fell behind to an early goal in the 11th minute as Tamal fluffed his line, hence paving a way for Salgaocar to capitalize.
With the AIFF Colts winning all of their matches played in the U-18 I-League thus far and pulling strings against Salgaocar too, an equalizer was just a matter of time.
In the 33rd minute the AIFF Colts equalized their deficit as Jerry teed the ball perfectly for Anirudh Thapa, who timed it sweetly into the bottom corner from outside of the box.
Changing over and the Colts were handed two back-to-back opportunities to score. First, Surya essayed in a cross for Edmund inside the box, but the latter instead of bundling his opportunity home tired to make his way past Salgaocar’s defence lines.
Next, Jerry whipped in a delightful cross across the face of the goal, however this too went abegging as both Jayanada and Amal were unable to make contact with the ball.
The final scoreline read 1-1 as the AIFF Colts continue their undefeated campaign in the U-18 I-League season. The Colts face Sports Authority of India (SAI) next on November 28, 2105.
