NEW DELHI: India are one of the 24 Member Associations invited by FIFA to compete in the FIFAe World Cup of Football Manager, the eSports World Cup organised by FIFA on the Football Manager 2024 game title. The AIFF will host an online domestic qualification on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at 4 pm IST. The final event will showcase world-class tactical knowledge as the finest Football Manager 2024 players compete for USD 100,000 in prize money from 29 August to 1 September in Liverpool, United Kingdom.

What is the FIFAe World Cup of Football Manager?
FIFAe World Cup of Football Manager is an eSports event organised by FIFAe, based on the Football Manager 2024 game. The prestigious event, participated by 24 FIFA Member Associations, is a platform to showcase the managerial and tactical skills of players on the highest stage.

Players have to register on fifa.gg and get selected for the domestic qualification draft, which will provide them the opportunity to qualify for the pinnacle event, the FIFAe World Cup of Football Manager to be held between August 29 and September 1, 2024 in Liverpool, United Kingdom.

Adding to the excitement, legendary football manager and Chief of Global Football Development at FIFA, Arsène Wenger has been appointed as the ambassador for the esports event: “I look forward to being part of this exciting new journey. This competition requires participants to demonstrate a profound understanding of football strategy and tactics. Success in this format demands not only mastery of game mechanics but also in-depth football knowledge, making it a fascinating blend.”

He continued: “At FIFA, we are dedicated to developing coaches and coaching techniques to give every talent a chance; so I look forward to seeing the best esports coaches from around the world compete at this event and contribute to the global advancement of football management and talent development.”

GUIDELINES FOR PLAYER REGISTRATION
STEP 1: Registration on fifa.gg

Register as a player on www.fifa.gg/register/player if you do not have an existing FIFAe account.

STEP 2: Sign up for FIFAe World Cup of Football Manager
Log-in to your FIFAe account on login.fifa.gg and navigate to the Dashboard. Fill up the registration form with necessary details including your experience with the game, in-game statistics (screenshot depicting Steam ID, Playtime and Achievements) and why you should be selected for the event. The deadline for registration is Wednesday, July 17, 2024.

The FIFAe admins will select 8 eligible athletes to the domestic qualification draft of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) who shall be then contacted by the FIFAe and/or AIFF competition team to join the official Discord server.

DOMESTIC QUALIFICATION EVENT

The domestic qualification event organised by the AIFF together with the FIFAe Competition team will help decide the athlete who will represent India at the FIFAe World Cup of Football Manager. The AIFF may also select an Assistant Manager to accompany the main manager for the pinnacle event.

Domestic qualification event details:

  • Game: Football Manager 2024
  • Platform: Steam (Windows & MacOS)
  • Eligibility of Athletes: Age of 16 years or above, holding an Indian passport valid at least until October 2024
  • Deadline for Player Registration: 17 July 2024
  • Date & Time of Qualification Event: 21 July 2024, 1600 Hrs IST
  • Mode: Fantasy Draft (Online)
  • Number of players: 8
  • Format: Group Stage 2 groups of 4 players each (single leg round-robin) + Knockouts
  • 2 eligible participants from the domestic qualification draft shall be nominated for the FIFAe World Cup of Football Manager 2024 (as Main Manager & Assistant Manager) who will be required to undertake international travel (all expenses covered) to Liverpool, UK for the pinnacle event.
