NEW DELHI: The AIFF Grassroots Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm in more than two dozen states across the country on Sunday, June 23, 2024.

In 2023, the Federation declared June 23 as the AIFF Grassroots Day, which is the birth date of former India captain, Asian Games gold medallist and national coach for several years, Pradip Kumar Banerjee.

This year, the event saw participation from over 160 entities - clubs, member associations (state/UTs), academies, NGOs, schools, etc. - who organised a variety of activities including tournaments, workshops, and football festivals for kids under the age of 12.

The celebrations were a tremendous success, with approximately 10,000 participants (kids, parents, coaches, volunteers, event coordinators, etc) involved in various events across India. The widespread involvement and the diverse range of activities highlighted the growing interest and commitment towards the development of grassroots football in India.
