NEW DELHI: As many as 62 Festivals attended by a mammoth 5754 participants soaked in the euphoria of ‘Month of Grassroots Football’ at various pockets of the country as All India Football Federation allayed Grassroots Month with the AFC Day.
The AFC Grassroots Day is celebrated on May 15 each year and this year the AIFF decided to hold a whole month of Grassroots Football activities.
The month began with two AIFF Grassroots courses being conducted in the State of Tamil Nadu, the first time ever that Grassroots football course was being conducted in Tamil Nadu. This was followed by two Grassroots courses conducted by the Western India Football Association (WIFA).
Two more courses were held, one in Gujarat and one in Punjab to make it a total of 6 AIFF GR courses in just one month.
The day – May 15 – was celebrated by various Grassroots leaders and State Associations together and was a grand success. There were a total of 62 Grassroots Festivals held across the country in which 5754 kids participated.
These festivals were held across various States such as Maharashtra, Mizoram, Manipur, Goa, Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Chandigarh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Delhi.
This was a great success since the Grassroots leaders and the State Associations worked very closely to conduct the festivals.
“The AIFF wishes to congratulate all the stakeholders who have successfully participated in the festivals and hope to have the same support for Grassroots football throughout the country,” Grassroots Development Manager Suvrat Thatte maintained.
Numbers read a total of six courses conduced on Grassroots Month – May – with as many as 149 GR coaches trained.
There have been 62 festivals with 5754 participants across the country.
