NEW DELHI: The buzzing popularity of Women’s Football in India was on display today (February 06, 2017) when 110 kids aged 6-8 years from Bal Bharti School came to attend the ongoing inaugural edition of the Indian Women’s League, as part of AIFF’s initiative to extend the horizons of Women’s Football, whilst spreading awareness.
The kids were all fascinated by the show of Football on display at the Ambedkar Stadium and cheered with vigor – going awestruck whenever some Player did a glitzy move on the field.
AIFF’s emerging Player of the Year 2016 Sanju of Alakhpura FC hailed the support from the kids and said, “It was delightful to see the kids cheering for us and trying to understand the game”
“It really shows that how far Women’s Football in India has come. The kids took interest in the game and that is what matters”
At a tender age the kids tried to understand the game, exclaimed whenever a goal was scored and promised their teachers to play Football in their physical education classes.
“We love Football and today was a very entertaining day for us. We loved the overall experience,” said Kartike Sharma.
“The didis were very inspiring for me, since I also like to play Football. When I grow up I would like to become a Footballer”, stated Neha Kaul.
