NEW DELHI: Ahead of Indian U-16 National Team’s clash against U-17 Bangkok Glass FC tomorrow (July 17, 2018) in an exposure tour in Thailand, Head Coach Bibiano Fernandes feels that the young colts have been rectifying their weaknesses.
“We have been working on the weak links during our exposure tours including the recently concluded Four-Nation Tournament in China. It is important that we shut out our weak areas,” informed Bibiano.
“We are creating a lot of clear goal scoring chances and that is one of the strong points of this team. But we need to work on our finishing and we are gradually getting there.”
Bibiano further added: “I would have been worried if we were not creating enough chances. Finishing will come once chances are created.”
The Indian U-16s had earlier defeated Buriram United U-17s 2-0 in their last match in Thailand. The match was dominated by the Indians, both in terms of chances created and ball possession. “The win was important for us as it aided in helping our confidence grow and preserved the belief that we are working in the right direction.”
“The win also proved that every member of the team is hungry and ready to fight on the pitch. The performance of the boys in the win (against Buriram United) was tremendous.”
“We have been playing with an aim of winning and dominating the matches and the boys have shown that they are capable of doing that. We will continue this philosophy for the upcoming matches in an attempt to grow further more,” he stated.
