NEW DELHI: The Indian U-17 World Cup Squad currently on an exposure trip to South Africa defeated Holy Star Academy U-17 2-0 on March 04, 2016.

The Indian colts were awarded an opportunity to open their goal-scoring tally for the match as early as the 2nd minute when Suresh was played onto goal by Amarjit. Suresh however failed to put his laces into the shot and the shot was easily collected by the opposition’s custodian.

Three minutes later, the Indian Colts surged into lead as Komal buried his chance into the back of the net following a Abhijit Sarkar flick, after Ninthoi crossed it in from the right flank, to make the scoreline read 1-0.

In the 35th minute, the Indian Colts were awarded a golden opportunity to double their lead but Komal failed to head home from handshaking distance as Holy Star Academy survived yet another Indian attack.

Two minutes later, it was Abhijit’s chance to test the opposition goalkeeper of his credentials, but the lanky forward scooped his shot over the bar as the half-time scoreline read 1-0 in India’s favour.

Four minute into the second half and some clever dribbling by Abhijit Sarkar saw his beat two defenders and run onto goal. Sarkar, however, could not get the maximum out of his chance as his weak shot was saved by the goalkeeper.

In the 56th minute, Ninthoi doubled India’s lead as he capitalized on Suresh’s shot which rattled the woodwork to make the scoreline read 2-0.

The Indian defence line was rarely brought into play as the Indian midfield sweeped up opposition attacks and launched its own. And at the end of time the full-time scoreline read 2-0 in India’s favour.
