NEW DELHI: The Indian U-17 World Cup Squad lost 1-3 against Germany’s Eintracht U-16 on Wednesday (September 09, 2015) in Frankfurt, Germany.
The Indian Colts will now touch Iranian shores to play in the AFC U-16 Championship Qualifiers which are slated to kick-off from September 16, 2015 in Tabriz City, Iran. The Indian Contingent open their AFC Qualifying campaign with a clash against Bahrain on the abovementioned date.
Although the Indian colts suffered a shaky start as their German opponents started to attack from the kick-off, the colts gained momentum quickly and initiated swift attacks.
Jitu released a galloping Aniket in the opening minutes of the match, but the danger was cleared by the German defence. Minutes later, India garnered a free-kick around the German’s 18 yard box. However, Suresh’s attempt from the kick sailed over the crossbar.
Both Teams jostled for possession, nullified each other and went into the breather on level pegging.
Changing over, Head Coach of the Indian Team Nicolai Adam shuffled his pack and introduced Sanjeev in place of Aniket.
In the 47th minute, India were awarded a penalty kick following a foul on Komal from a corner kick. Amarjit stepped up and shot it comfortably past the German custodian to give India a solitary goal lead.
Eintracht Frankfurt U-16 equalized their deficit in the 60th minute following a long shot. Five minutes later the German club took lead, courtesy of a penalty kick.
The Indian contingent pressed for an equalizer and in the 78th minute, Sanjeev’s attempt following a free kick went inches wide of the post.
Eintacht doubled their lead in the 83rd minute, as they scored from a free-kick to make the scoreline 3-1.
The Indian colts attacked in hordes, but were unable to breach the German defence lines and at the end of ninety minutes the scoreline read 3-1 in favor of Eintracht Frankfurt.
