THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium in the heart of Kerala's capital city came alive as Thiruvananthapuram Kombans defeated Magic Thrissur FC 2-0 in the Super League Kerala 2-0 on Monday, September 16, 2024.

Despite a few promising attacking moves from Thrissur, they found it difficult to hold onto the ball, often losing possession in key moments. The pressure from the Kombans soon paid off, as their relentless attacking strategy earned them back-to-back corner kicks in the 16th minute. It was the second corner, delivered perfectly by Motta that found Vishnu TM unmarked in the box, who rose above the defence and headed the ball into the net, sending the crowd into wild celebrations.

Kombans’ defensive and midfield lines worked in perfect harmony, denying Thrissur any opportunities to control the game. As the match wore on, Kombans continued their aggressive attacking approach, and in the 69th minute, they doubled their lead. A well-placed free kick by the ever-reliable Patrick Motta found its way to defender Lalhmangaihsanga, who rose high to score the second goal, sealing the match for the home side.

Renan Rocha Arajuo of the Kombans was adjudged the Player of the Match.
