NAGPUR: Riding on a hat-trick by Reagan, Tamil Nadu routed Punjab 5-0 to top Group B and set up a semifinal clash with hosts Maharashtra in the 70th National Football Championship for the Santosh Trophy 2015-16. All the goals came in the second half.
In the other semifinal, Services will take on Goa.
Punjab, in fact, had more domination in the first half but once it resumed after the interval, it was all one-way traffic.
For Tamil Nadu, Reagan scored in the 52nd, 68th and 87th minutes while Sirajudeen and M Pradeep scored one apiece in the 63rd and the 66th minutes respectively.
Goa are the other Team to have qualified for the semis from the Group.
Tamil Nadu finished their League engagements with 10 points from 4 matches while Punjab finished on 3 points from 4 matches.
In another Group B match, West Bengal finished their League engagements on a high drubbing Assam 5-1 in their last match. West Bengal finished on 6 points from 4 matches while Assam could not open their account having lost all.
For Bengal, Narohari Shrestha and Shaikh Faiz scored a brace each while Dipendu Dowary scored the other. For Assam the consolation goal was scored by Tridip Hazarika.
