NEW DELHI: On November 23, 2016 the AIFF Colts were left reeling as they tasted a 2-4 defeat against Sporting Clube de Goa at the Artificial Ground in Fatorda, Goa.

Although the AIFF Colts took the lead in the 35^th minute when Rahul won the ball inside the penalty box and smashed it home, Sporting Clube de Goa in an inspired second half ran out eventual winners.

In the 52^nd minute, Sporting equalized their deficit when a handball inside the AIFF Colts’ 18 yard box gave a penalty to Sporting, which they converted with ease.

Uncanny defending by the AIFF Colts in their defending half led Sporting Goa to score three goals in under five minutes next. First, in the 75^th minute a defensive howler led Sporting to take the lead as the scoreline read 2-1. Further, goals in the 76^th and 78^th minute provided Sporting with an unassailable 4-1 lead.

The AIFF Colts pulled a goal back in the 85^th minute but were unable to pose a serious threat to Sporting’s defence in the dying embers of the match as the full-time scoreline read 4-2.
