All India Football Federation’s U-15 Regional Academy Kolkata presently preparing for U-16 International Tournaments played Uttarpara FCC, in a Friendly Match at the Pailan World School Campus. The Bastab Roy coached outfit, who were represented by U-19 boys, managed to keep the spirited Academy boys at bay with the match ending 1-1.
On a rain-soaked afternoon in Kolkata, Head Coach Goutam Ghosh’s wards showed character coupled with skill to beat the odds and stick to the philosophy of passing football as much as possible.
The U-15 boys were rewarded for their repeated forays into rival territory in the 33rd minute. Substitute Moya scored within seconds after coming off the bench to give the Academy boys the deserved lead.
Post the breather, the visitors pulled one back against the run of play. Had it not been for Uttarpara custodian’s heroics between the sticks especially after the equaliser, the Academy boys would have had the last laugh.
An elated Ghosh said after the match: “My boys showed character of the highest order. The underfoot conditions were not favourable at all and given their age, the maturity they showed is certainly laudable. I am very happy with the result. That we are improving every match is evident.”
