NAVI MUMBAI: Rakesh Oram scored the fastest goal of the U-19 I-League Tournament as AIFF Regional Academy recorded their second win in as many matches against PIFA Colaba FC in the second round of U-19 I League Tournament played at the Fr. Agnel’s Sports Complex, Navi Mumbai.
Oram scored as early as the second minute while another own goal helped the AIFF Academy boys beat PIFA Colaba FC 2-0. After two rounds, the AIFF Regional Academy lead the standings in the Maharashtra Qualifying group with six points while PIFA Colaba are yet to open their account.
Winger Oram found the net as early as the second minute after heading home off a cross by Suman Sarkar from the left flank.
However, despite conceding early, the Colaba boys defended valiantly, soaking in wave of attacks with their goalkeeper Pranav Kotra pulling off a string of saves early on to keep the contest alive.
But in the 42nd minute the visitors conceded for the second time after a wayward clearance in the penalty area was directly into the back of the net by a defender for an own goal.
The AIFF young guns enjoying possession all throughout but an ultra defensive mode from the opponents didn’t allow them to score more.
