GREATER NOIDA, UTTAR PRADESH: Railways continued to play havoc in Group C of the 29th Senior Women’s National Football Championship for the Rajmata Jijabai Trophy when they ripped Andhra Pradesh apart 12-1 at the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathak Sports Stadium on Saturday, October 12, 2024.
Railways, who defeated Assam 5-1 in their first half, have scored 17 goals in two matches and have collected six points. Andhra Pradesh have gone winless in their two games so far. The winners led 8-1 at half time.
Striker Yumnam Kamala Devi enjoyed a field day on the pitch with seven goals to her credit. Midfielder Mamta and substitute Diparnita Dey scored two goals each, while Jabamani Tudu got the other goal. Boya Dasari Anitha found the mark for Andhra.
In the other match of the day in Group C, Uttar Pradesh kept alive their hopes of making the final rounds by winning their second consecutive match. After a barren first half, UP defeated Assam 3-0 with Amrita Sharma (58’), Nancy (87’), Muskan Khan (89’) scoring the goals.
As hosts UP have also earned six points from two matches, their concluding group match against Railways will decide the group winners.
