JAIPUR: Punjab and Chhattisgarh registered fluent wins in their respective Group E matches in the 29th Senior Women's National Football Championship for Rajmata Jijabai Trophy 2024-25 at the Vidyadhar Nagar Stadium on Sunday, October 6, 2024.
While Punjab defeated Uttarakhand 3-1, a second half blitz saw Chhattisgarh routing hosts Rajasthan 5-0 in the second match of the day.
Punjab took the lead in the 14th minute through Lalam Haokip. It was cancelled by Mitali Melwal in the 53rd minute. But an own goal by Uttarakhand’s Achala Puri in the 69th minute put Punjab once again in the lead. It was further consolidated by Nisha in the 73rd minute.
In the Chhattisgarh versus Rajasthan match, Priyanka Futan was the star performer for the winners with three goals. Hina Nirmalkar scored the other two goals for Rajasthan, who led 1-0 at half time.
