NEW DELHI: It has been a fantastic show in New Delhi at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in the Hero Futsal Club Championship, where Mohammedan SC and Delhi FC will go head-to-head in the final tomorrow (November 13, 2021), with the winner etching their name in Indian Futsal history.

Mohammedan SC have had a sensational tournament so far, with the perfect mixture of youth and experience in their team. Jayesh Sutar, Sachin Patil and co. have provided the goals up front, with the duo of coach Joshuah Vaz and assistant coach Mihir Sawant keeping the opposition attackers at bay.

In their semi-final clash against Bengaluru FC, Mohammedan SC gave the perfect example of their strengths. They shut out the young and vibrant players of Bengaluru FC with the whole team performing as a unit, while players like the aforementioned Jayesh and Sandesh scored the goals to decide the match in their favour.

Ahead of the final, Mohammedan SC head coach and player Joshuah Vaz said, “It is a fantastic feeling to reach the final of the first-ever Hero Futsal Club Championship. I am really proud of all the boys, from the goalkeeper to every single player, it was a brilliant game from our players tactically. We are very happy, and we are proud to reach the finals, and we want to make everyone happy, the fans, the management and everyone who is associated with Mohammedan Sporting Club.”

Delhi FC, on the other hand, have been dominating every team they have come up against so far with their attacking style of play. The star player for them so far has been Nikhil Mali, who has been the top goalscorer of the tournament so far with 19 goals. In fact, he has scored at least a hat-trick in each of the matches he has played so far in the tournament.

In their semi-final clash against Mangala Club, Delhi FC continued to play in the only way they know, as they put 12 goals past their opponents, Mangala Club. The team from Odisha scored seven goals in the game, but Aman Chawla’s side was never in any trouble, having lead in the game from the first minute to the last.

Ahead of the final, captain Nikhil Mali said, “It is a really good feeling to reach the final of the first-ever Hero Futsal Club Championship. Everyone is really pumped up to play the final against Mohammedan SC.”

On being asked about his performances in the tournament, Mali was full of praise for his teammates. He said, "It feels good to be the top goal scorer (so far) in the tournament, but honestly it is down to my teammates.”

Mali was also aware of the challenge that Mohammedan SC will pose in the final, but has his sights firmly placed on the trophy. “They are a really good side, they have beaten Bengaluru FC in the semi-final. We will study them properly and we will see what happens. We are just going to go and win the title,” averred Mali.

The final of the Hero Futsal Club Championship promises to be a riveting one, which will be held tomorrow (Saturday, November 13, 2021) at 8.30 PM IST. The final will be broadcast live on Eurosport and Eurosport HD, and will also be streamed live on the Indian Football Youtube Channel, and the Indian Football Team and I-League Facebook pages.
