NEW DELHI: North-East outfit Shillong Lajong FC have completed the signing of Zambian International and African Cup of Nations 2012 winner Isaac Chansa; the Club informed through a press statement.

Chansa was a key member of the 2012 African Cup of Nations winning Zambian side, and he last played for Zambian Premier League club side Zanaco FC last season before making his move to the North-East of India.

The 30-year-old midfielder featured previously for clubs such as Helsingborgs IF in the Swedish Top Division and Orlando Pirates in the South African Premier Soccer League. Chinese Super League Side Henan Jianye FC secured his services from Orlando Pirates in 2012 for a total deal value worth a little over $1 Million.

He was also part of the Zambian side that took on Japan in the Pre-World Cup 2014 International Friendly in USA.

Chansa’s natural position is in Centre Midfield, and he was quoted saying, “I am happy and look forward to this new challenge. I will do my best to contribute in the team’s success in any way I can and repay the faith shown in me by the team management.”

Meanwhile, the Club have also retained the services of Trinidad & Tobago’s fifth highest goal Cornell Glen, who scored 13 goals for Shillong Lajong FC in the 2013-14 I-League season.

Larsing ‘Ming’ Sawyan, Managing Director Lajong FC said, “Both Cornell Glen and Chansa are proven performers who have competed at the highest levels. We are happy to have these accomplished and technically gifted players playing alongside our local boys.”
