NEW DELHI: The Kerala Football Association’s 72nd Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) was held in Thrissur recently where Gold Medals were presented to Footballers who have excelled in various age-categories.
Master Abuthahir was presented the Gold Medal in the U-13 Category while TA Akbar bagged it for the sub-junior Category. The Gold Medal in the Senior Category was presented to T Sajith.
Mr. KMI Mather, the President of the KFA, also one of the Vice Presidents of All India Football Federation informed that the “KFA will sign a MOU with GCDA for the development of Dr. Ambedkar Stadium for exclusive usage of Football for 20 years on lease agreement.”
The MOU is expected to be signed in the month of July 2013.
In another significant development, Mr. Mather declared that the KFA will build its new Office Building nearby to the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kaloor, Ernakulam in 2013 itself. Also, the District FAs would be granted additional finance to purchase new Computers.
Furthermore, Mather congratulated the Members their support for conducting the International Friendly Match between India versus Palestine as well as the 67th Senior National Football Championship for the Santosh Trophy in a befitting manner.
“FIFA has promised to complete the Artificial Turf at the Kalamasserry site within one year. The proposed site has been allotted by the Eagles FC for a period of 20 years for the use of AIFF and KFA,” he added.
Mr. Anil Kumar, the General Secretary of the KFA stated that the KFA will soon launch their Grassroots and Youth Training Programme as per the AIFF guidelines.
“Robert Baan’s Masterplan, ‘Lakshya,’ would be implemented in the State in the coming season,” he said.
Kumar also categorically maintained that the KFA will launch a Grassroots Home and Away League in the coming season. “The KFA has already identified 240 Schools and 140 Centres in four different age category for this purpose. The project will kick-off in September 2013 with the support of the Government of Kerala, Professional Clubs and some sponsors,” he added.
