MALAPPURAM: Payyanad Stadium in Manjeri witnessed a high-stake encounter as visitors Kannur Warriors FC earned a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Malappuram FC in Super League Kerala on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.

Kannur Warriors FC struck in the 14th minute when their captain, Adrian Sardinero, found the back of the net, silencing the home crowd and putting Malappuram on the back foot.

With momentum on their side, Kannur continued to apply pressure. They doubled their lead when Asier Gomes capitalised on a misjudged throw-in by Malappuram defender Nandu Krishna, punishing the home side with a second goal.

Down by two goals, Malappuram faced intense pressure but adjusted their attacking strategy.

Their efforts paid off when young star Faslurahman unleashed a stunning shot from the left side of the penalty box, pulling one back for the home team in the 41st minute.

In the second half, out with renewed energy, the home side were determined to find the equaliser. However, despite their increased intensity, Kannur Warriors FC’s goalkeeper, Ajmal, delivered a standout performance, making crucial saves that kept his side in the lead till the end thus gaining an important away win for his team.
