NEW DELHI: All India Football Federation’s Kalyani Regional Academy breezed past a combined Team comprising of mostly Airtel I-League Players in their last preparation match at the picturesque Kalyani Stadium ahead of their campaign in the Asian Champions Trophy.
The opponents comprised of the likes of Mohun Bagan’s Shouvik Ghosh, Pritam Kotal, Pankaj Moula, Dempo FC’s Pronoy Halder and Prabir Das, and many other former India U-22 and Arrows’ Player of the likes of Tirthankar Sarkar, Jayabrata Dhar, Arijeet Singh, Shayan Roy, amongst others.
For the Academy boys, Krishna Pandit and Jerry Lalrinzuala scored one apiece in the first half as the U-16 boys enjoyed a 2-1 cushion at the interval.
Changing over, Aaron sealed the fate in the 82nd minute.
Head Coach Goutam Ghosh lauded his boys on the result. “Our U-15 boys played in a mature fashion against matured professionals. It will only increase their confidence. But at the same time, we need to be cautious. We cannot afford to be complacent at any point,” he told www.the-aiff.com
The Academy boys begin their campaign in their Asian Champions Trophy against Frenz United, Malaysia, A in an away match in Kuala Lumpur on May 17.
