NEW DELHI: The Indian Women’s League which concluded today with Eastern Sporting Union lifting the trophy as they defeated Rising Student’s Club 3-0 in the Finals, saw an array of talent on display over the course of three weeks.

Not only did the league uncover 12-year old Senorita Nongluph, it also gave experience to young Players of a competitive environment, whilst helping with scouting talent for the Indian Women’s National Team.

“The League is a very good boost to Women’s Football in India. It has enabled a lot of Players to play against some of the best in the Nation,” said Eastern Sporting Union’s and highest scorer in the league with 11 goals Kamala Devi in the official post match press conference.

“It not only has boosted the morale of young Players, it has also given motivation to many girls across the nation that they too can be footballers”, explained Panthoi Chanu, who was awarded the best goalkeeper of the League.

“Women’s League is a start of something beautiful in Indian Women’s Football and it will go a long way in helping us (India) develop”, Umapati Devi, who was awarded the Most Valuable Player of the League added.

Sasmita Malik from Rising Student’s Club who was also present during the interaction further stated, “Young Players are getting opportunity to play and not only that, the Women’s League is helping extend the borders of Women’s Football in India”

“It can only go upward from here,” she added.
