NEW DELHI: The Indian U-17 World Cup Squad lost their first match of the exposure trip to South Africa, 4-1 against Tuks U-19 Sports Team at the Sports Complex in University of Pretoria.

The Indian colts tried to keep possession and mount attacks on their opponents in the opening minutes of the match. And a thunderous Sanjeev free-kick was parried away by the opposition goalkeeper early on.

Shortly after, Joysana blasted the ball into the back of the net, as he capitalized on an uncanny save made by the opposition custodian, but the referee waved it offside. In the 33rd minute, Komal breezed past the opposition defence, but could not slot his chance home as Tuks U-19 survived another Indian attack.

Three minutes later, Sanjeev could’ve opened the goal scoring tally for the Indian colts, however, with the goal at his mercy, he hoofed his shot over the bar, as the half-time scoreline read 0-0.

The Indian colts took the lead in the 50th minute when Sanjeev chipped the ball over an onrushing Goalkeeper, following an Aniket pass, to give India a solitary goal lead.

Five minutes later, the Indian colts were at it again. This time however, Aniket’s rasping shot, following an inch perfect Sanjeev through ball, was fisted away by the opposition goalkeeper.

In the 65th minute, Tuks U-19 Sports Team equalized their deficit as they scored against the run of play to make it 1-1. Thereafter goals in the 70th, 75th and 84th minute for Tuks U-19 Sports Team gave them a three goal lead as the full-time scoreline read 4-1.
