NEW DELHI: The Indian U-14 Boys Team steamrolled Sri Lanka 6-0 in their opening encounter of the AFC U-14 Regional Festival Of Football 2015 on Friday (May 22, 2015) at the FC Istiklol Academy Ground in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
Tarak Hembram opened the floodgates for the Indian colts in the 23rd minute when his rocket-of-a-shot was driven straight into the top right corner from 30 yards following an uncanny clearance from a corner kick.
The Indian colts doubled their lead eight minutes later when Sanjeev dazzled into the penalty box and released an inch perfect pass for the bombarding Amarjeet Singh, to tap home.
The barrage of Indian attacks continued even after garnering a hefty two goal lead and the attacking fluidity showcased by the Indian colts earned dividends once again in the 33rd minute when Sanjeev Stalin slotted a penalty, following a handball in the 18 yard box.
The 45th minute saw a fusion of attacking fluidity, acumen and footballing brilliance, showcased by the Indian colts when Flan’s exquisite pass following a cross saw Sanjeev Stalin onto goal. The latter finished his opportunity by a classy and one can even say in vogue, backheel.
The U-14 boys were once again awarded a penalty in the 50th minute when substitute Lalchununga was brought down in the 18 yard box. Lalchununga stepped up to take the spot kick and blasted it pass a hapless Sri Lankan goalkeeper.
The Indian colts dominated and controlled the tempo of the match utmost ease.
In the 58th minute a quaggy Sri Lanka defence gave way to Manvir Singh who tapped the ball home from 6 yards, following a free kick scenario.
At the end of time the scoreline reflected 6-0 in favor of the U-14 boys Team, as they garnered an impressive win over their opponents.
