NEW DELHI: A sterling performance by the Indian U-14 Women’s National Team saw them hammer Bhutan 12-0 on April 20, 2015, in their first match of AFC U-14 Regional Tournament which is being held in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Thailand Devi scored a hattrick while Karshima Rai inched a step above her team-mate and fired four past a hapless Bhutanese Goalkeeper, in a stellar display of skill and acumen put on show by the Indian eves.
The Indian contingent attacked from the first minute of the game and their constant pressure paid dividends in the 16th minute when Aparna Roy opened the floodgates for India.
Four minutes later, Somaaya Nadia scored to hand India a two goal advantage over their opponents.
It was all a one Team show after the 20th minute as India attacked with fluidity and looked to threaten Bhutan’s citadel with every passing second.
Soumya Guguloth,Bannya Kabiraj, Laxmi Devi, and a brace by Thailand Devi asserted India’s pedigree in the match as the Indian eves lead 7-0 at halftime.
Thailand Devi completed her hattrick, three minutes into the second half, as the scoreline read 8-0 in favor of India.
Next, an inspired performance by Karishma Rai saw the fleet-footed striker score four goals as India registered an easy 12-0 victory over Bhutan.
