SRINAGAR: Hon’ble Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, on Sunday, July 14, 2024, visited the India U17 Men’s Team at the J&K Sports Complex Polo Ground, in Srinagar.
Present on the occasion were Secretary, Youth Services and Sports, Government of Jammu & Kashmir, Mr. Sharmad Hafeez IAS, Director YSS, J&K, Mr. S.C. Chhibber, JKAS, and Secretary, J&K Sports Council, Ms. Nuzhat Gull.
Dr. Mandaviya interacted with the players and head coach Ishfaq Ahmed, and other support staff in the India U17 national camp, and wished them luck for the forthcoming SAFF U-17 Championship, to be played in Thimphu, Bhutan, from September 18 to 28.
He said that the Government is committed to sports at the grassroots level and will look to do it’s best for the improvement of football across the country.
AIFF Acting Secretary General Mr. M. Satyanarayan said, “The Hon’ble Minister’s visit to the U17 national camp in Srinagar is a huge encouragement for the players and football in general. This camp has a wide range of representation from all over the country, and the boys have the potential to emerge as the future stars of Indian football.”
