KOCHI: Forca Kochi FC closed their Super League Kerala home campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Magic Thrissur FC in an electrifying final-round clash at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.
While Forca Kochi had already secured their place in the semi-finals, this game carried a sentimental weight as it marked their last home appearance before the knockout rounds. For Magic Thrissur FC, though their semi-final hopes had ended, the team approached the match with a strong resolve to finish their season on a high note.
After a goalless first half, Forca Kochi FC intensified their attack, with Dorielton leading the charge and constantly testing Thrissur’s defence, held firmly by skipper Mailson Alves. Finally, in the 81st minute, Dorielton found the net, scoring the winning goal for Kochi and putting himself at the top of the golden boot race with five goals.
Shortly after the goal, Kochi’s substitute Asif Kottayil received a red card, leaving the home team with ten players in the closing minutes.
