NEW DELHI: The Indian U-16 Colts defeated Spanish Soccer Academy 5-1 in their second exposure match on December 10, 2015 at Dubai Sports City in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Coming on the back of a thumping 11-0 win over UAE Club side Al-Hamriyah, the Indian Colts fell behind to a goal in the opening minutes of the match as Spanish Soccer Academy took the lead against the run of play.
Not to be deterred, the Indian colts started to dominate possession and initiated fluid attacks. In the 23rd minute, Aniket dribbled past three defenders and shot onto goal, but it went wayward.
Seven minutes later the Indian colts equalized as Komal hammered home the ball after an exquisite Aniket through ball from the right flank to make the score-line 1-1.
Although the Colts tried to breach the Spanish Soccer Academy’s defence in the dying embers of the first half, chances went abegging and the half-time scoreline read 1-1.
Changing over, the Indian contingent hot on their heels took the lead in the 55th minute as Aman blasted his opportunity into the back of the net. Two minutes later, the Colts doubled their lead as Suresh capitalized on a defensive howler to make the score-line 3-1.
With India dominating possession, attacking with fluidity and defending with solidity, the Indian wingers gave the opponents a run for their money with constant pressing and thwarting.
In the dying embers of the match, the Indian colts scored in quick successions as first a one-two between Aman and Aniket saw the latter onto goal, who blasted it past the opponent custodian in the 80th minute. Two minutes later, Boris whirled past two defenders and his venomous shot saw the light of day, making the score-line read 5-1.
With the lead unassailable, Spanish Soccer Academy rarely gained ground on the Indian goal and at the end of time the full time scoreline read 5-1.
