NEW DELHI: Daniel Lalhlimpuia and Delbert Fernandes’ two first half strikes gave AIFF U-19 colts a dramatic 2-0 win over Sporting Clube de Goa in a friendly match at Duler.
Sporting Clube de Goa, under-going preparation for Goa Professional League and I-league 2014-15 were quickly off the blocks dominating majority of possession and creating promising chances in early stages of the game.
The deadlock was broke in 33rd minute when the AIFF colts started some crisp passing move ended with Lalramzauva’s blazing shot which came of the post for Daniel Lalhlimpuia who swiftly headed the ball into the net.
The AIFF colts gradually began to find their rhythm with Lalramzauva continued to orchestrate the play in midfield and was instrumental in AIFF’s next opening, sending over a decisive through ball for Delbert Fernandes, whose clinical finish doubled the lead for the blue cubs 3 minutes before going into the half time.
During half-time the score was 2-0.
After the interval, the host started pressing up with Sumeet passi’s header narrowly missing the target late on. That effort preceded waves of pressure as Oscar Bruzon’s side did everything in their power to get back into the game.
Sporting de Club Goa saw best of their chance of the game, when a superb overhead effort from the striker went agonisingly wide of the post.
The next friendly game is scheduled on August 28, 2014.
