Easy wins for Uttar Pradesh and Tripura in Sub-Jr Girls' NFC Tier 2

NEEMUCH, MADHYA PRADESH:
 Uttar Pradesh and Tripura bagged convincing wins in the Sub-Junior Girls' National Football Championship 2024-25 Tier 2 in Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh, on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.

In Group C, Uttar Pradesh overcame a half-time deficit to beat neighbours Uttarakhand 4-1. Ishika Kumari had put Uttarakhand in the lead in the third minute before Uttar Pradesh scored four in the second half via Sonam (54', 82'), Saloni (65') and Anupriya Sahani (75'). The winners are now second in the table with four points and will fight for top spot and a place in the semi-final when they meet Madhya Pradesh on September 12.

In Group A, Tripura bounced back from their opening-day defeat with a 9-1 thrashing of Andaman & Nicobar. Breejia Debbarma scored a hat-trick (45+1', 69', 84'), while Remika Reang added a brace (59', 82'). Lalmauii Reang (3'), Thanpuii Darlong (66') and Johina Chakma (73') scored once each. Andaman & Nicobar's Dipika Sardar scored an own goal. Sara Ekta Lakra netted the only goal for the losing side.

However, Andhra Pradesh maintained their position as Group A leaders with a 5-1 triumph over Pondicherry. They had beaten Tripura 7-1 on Sunday.

The match between Sikkim and hosts Madhya Pradesh (Group C) was suspended due to heavy rain.
